Prof Mattias Jakobsson

Dr. Mattias Jakobsson has broad interest in population genetics and human evolution and his lab uses computational approaches to understand the complex patterns of large-scale human genetic variation and their implications for human demographic history. Dr. Jakobsson received his PhD from Lund University in 2005, joined Uppsala University in 2008 after postdoctoral research at University of Michigan. Dr. Jakobsson’s lab recently published a series of papers that carefully and cleverly interrogate long-standing questions in human evolution, including a paper on patterns of genomic variation in southern African’s Khoe and San populations. Dr. Jakobsson is supported by the European Research Council.
